Passu Cathedral - Tupopdan (6106m) - Pakistan

Posted by skynet (Glasgow, United Kingdom) on 25 June 2008 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

Tupopdan in Passu, one of the peaks in the mighty Karakoram range. The locals called it Passu Cons or Passu Cathedral for its shape. I took this photo at Glacier Breeze Restaurant, high enough to have a good view of the mountains.

The wording at foot of the mountain reads "Welcome Our Beloved Hazir Imam 1987" and "Didar Mubarak". Aga Khan visited the Passu that year. When the spiritual leader Imam of the Ismaili community visits His followers in any part of world it is called Didar Mubarak.
